Deliverable 1 - Worked Hours Report

Early in this project iteration, we scheduled a team meeting to address certain details that were initially missing from the project charter. The main focus was to refine our understanding of two critical aspects brought to light by the professors: the response time between the user input and ALIX’s output and the potential performance challenges related to the Raspberry Pi.

To ensure clarity and alignment within the project, we took the following actions:

These actions were taken to ensure that our project charter was comprehensive and reflected the key factors influencing the success of our project. By addressing these concerns upfront, we aim to speed up the execution of our project and minimize potential setbacks.

After the project charter correction phase, during this first week of project development, we focused on designing and structuring the ALIX robot's components using Fusion 360 for 3D modeling. Our goal was to create a clear project structure. Here's an overview of what we accomplished:

  1. Base: We designed the base of ALIX, which consists of two parts. One part serves as a lockable compartment for storing rewards, while the other part will house essential components like the Raspberry Pi.
  2. Body: The body of ALIX was designed to accommodate a camera for detecting presence during various activities. Additionally, we created space inside the body to house motors that will enable ALIX to rotate its head, arms, and body.
  3. Arms: We designed two articulated arms for ALIX, providing two degrees of freedom for each arm. This allows for versatile movements during ALIX's use.
  4. Head: ALIX's head was designed with a TFT display to depict facial expressions and emotions, enhancing the user experience.
